What's a Viewlet?
|

A Viewlet is an animated tutorial demonstrating a system function.
When you click on one of the links in the list below, your browser
will open a new window to show the Viewlet. Resize the window until
you can see all or most of it on your computer screen. You can use
the Viewlet's player bar to pause or stop the Viewlet at any time.
When you have finished watching the Viewlet, simply close the window.

This Viewlet provides information about transaction-level authorization for providers, other businesses and payee
s. Beginning December 6th, 2004, any payee or other business that wants to use additional X12N transactions will be required to be
authorized by provider, by transaction. This functionality provides a means for providers to select the X12N transactions th
at their representatives are allowed to use. Review this Viewlet if you are interested in using the IEC System for any of t
he functions mentioned in the Using the Internet Electronic Claims (IEC) System topic above, or if you represent a provider. For Oth
er Business types and payees with provider authorizations, transaction-level authorization will now control access to both the batch
file and direct data entry (DDE) functions available in the IEC System.

If you, or an entity you represent, are currently enrolled with IDPA as a Medicaid provider,
you may wish to register as a Medicaid provider in the MEDI System. Any person with special
knowledge of the provider's relationship with IDPA is permitted to register as a Medicaid provider.
Successfully registering as a Medicaid provider makes you the administrator for the provider
and allows you to do the following on behalf of the provider you represent:

Internet applications based on the provider's type. In addition, these individuals
are responsible for managing requests for provider authorization from other business
types, and for authorizing employees of the provider.

If you, or an entity you represent, currently receive remittance advices from IDPA, you may wish to register as a
payee in the MEDI System. Any person
with special knowledge of the payee's relationship with IDPA is permitted
to register as a payee. Successfully registering as a payee makes you the administrator
for the payee and allows you to do the following on behalf of the payee you represent:

Receive HIPAA-compliant 835 Remittance Advices through the Internet Electronic Claims (IEC) System.

Submit acknowledgments (e.g. 997 and 824) through the IEC System.
|

Request additional application authorization from a Medicaid provider.

Authorize registered employees of the payee.

If you are not an administrator for a Medicaid provider, payee, other government payor or
other business, you may want to register as an employee. The business' administrator must authorize employees. Once
authorized, employees are able to perform functions on behalf of the business. By registering
as an employee, you will be allowed to perform the following functions within the MEDI System:

Obtain authorization from your administrator. |
| |
Other activities for which you have been delegated authorization by your administrator. |
